Joy Adan is a Filipino-Australian writer, communications strategist, and artist from Western Sydney, and co-host of the At The Well podcast – a show that encourages young Australians to grow in faith and live their values in every aspect of life.
Joy experienced perinatal depression and anxiety as a result of a physically challenging pregnancy and the birth of her second son. While seeking help from family, friends, and medical professionals, she quickly discovered that deep social and cultural stigmas made it difficult to speak up and access ongoing support. The lack of awareness and education about the mental and physical load of parenthood is especially challenging when the newborn phase has long passed and women navigate their return to paid work after a period of parental leave.
Today, she works with business leaders to create supportive and inclusive workplace cultures and uses storytelling, keynotes and creative communication practices to start open conversations and encourage people to show up authentically and powerfully in their homes, workplace and community.
