Chloe Shorten’s first book, Take Heart, was published in 2017. Challenging what qualifies as ‘a family’ in the 21st century, Take Heart is about the modern household and broadens the idea of today’s ‘family’. Her new book, The Secret Ingredient, will be released in April, 2018.
Writing is Chloe’s third career, having started working life as a journalist she then became public affairs specialist where she practiced in-house for large corporate organisations in the resources and technology sectors for more than 20 years and holds qualifications in communications, marketing and business.
As a passionate advocate for gender equality and ending family violence Chloe is committed to improving the lives of women and children through her involvement with not-for-profit advocacy, a passion that she has been actively committed to for 25 years. She is committed to using her skills to bring about research advances that will improve the lives of women and children and people with disabilities.
Chloe is an Ambassador for Our Watch. She is a member of the Burnet Institute’s Engagement Committee and Strategic Advisor for their Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Program. She is Ambassador for the Furlong Park School for Deaf Children and was recently appointed Patron of the Questacon Foundation. In 2017 Chloe was appointed to the Board of Industry Funds Super – an all benefit to the member, superannuation fund.
Chloe has three wonderful children Rupert 15, Georgette 14 and Clementine 7 and two active fur-children Theo and Tilly. She is married to Bill.
