Gidget Ladies’ Lunch 2020 | Cancellation Update

To our generous Gidget Ladies’ Lunch guests and volunteers, and our beautiful community,

As you would be aware, the Gidget Ladies’ Lunch is one of the most loved events on the Sydney social calendar, and we had been planning an unforgettable day.

However, we are now collectively united by an unprecedented global health crisis. We are navigating uncertain times as best we can, together.

All non-essential events for over 100 people have now been banned by the government. Prior to this official announcement, and as always throughout all of our event planning, it is the health and safety of our guests and volunteers that is at the heart of everything we do.

It has been one of our most emotional decisions as an organisation, to decide on the best possible solution for our Gidget Ladies’ Lunch 2020.

It is with sadness, but absolute certainty, that we will be cancelling the event this year. As the COVID-19 situation continues to develop, we must prioritise your wellbeing.

Never has there been a more important time to be united in all that we do, to be kind to each other and to focus on taking care of ourselves and our families. As our most generous supporters, we consider you a part of the Gidget Foundation family.

Sadly, the impact of the global COVID-19 crisis is far-reaching, beyond the cancellation of events, and Gidget Foundation Australia is not immune to this. The cancellation of our largest fundraiser for the year will flow on to affect the delivery of our support programs to expectant and new parents in need.

We are currently experiencing a significantly increased demand by vulnerable people who need our help now more than ever. While much of the world is looking to pause operations, our commitment to our services needs to be stronger than ever. We currently have over 80 families in need in bushfire affected areas, and in addition to the impact of COVID-19, our funding is stretched.

We are providing a number of options for guests to have the funds from tickets or tables directed, and we thank you in advance for your patience and understanding as our small team works to process these as quickly as possible.

The Gidget team wishes you and your family the best of health in these uncertain times. We encourage you to practice self-care and kindness, please take care of yourself and each other. Please also look out for those around you who may be vulnerable… check-in on your elderly neighbours, extend warmth to anxious loved ones and reach out to parents who are isolated at home with children.

Sincerely,
Arabella Gibson
CEO, Gidget Foundation Australia
On behalf of the Gidget Committee
