GIDGET FOUNDATION AUSTRALIA is a not for profit organisation that provides programs nationally to support the emotional wellbeing of expectant and new parents.
Gidget was the nickname of a vibrant young mother who tragically took her own life while suffering postnatal depression. She hid her suffering from even her loving family and friends. Together, they created Gidget Foundation Australia determined that what happened to Gidget would not happen to others.
Gidget Foundation Australia evokes Gidget’s warmth and lively spirit. Established in 2001, the Foundation has grown significantly and is now supported by passionate individuals, community leaders and health professionals.
Nearly 1 in 5 mothers and 1 in 10 fathers will experience perinatal depression and anxiety that is often hidden and not fully understood. it impacts around 100,000 australians each year, and suicide is the leading cause of maternal death. Nearly 50% of all parents experience adjustment disorders.

Gidget Foundation Australia is recruiting a Partnerships and Community Manager, required to support the CEO and Organisational Development Manager, by building and delivering partnerships with Corporate Partners, as well as driving fundraising opportunities with community groups.

We’re looking for Clinical Psychologists, Registered Psychologists or accredited Mental Health Social Workers to deliver face to face psychological support at various Gidget House sites nationally.

I will miss Gidget Foundation dearly, my colleagues, staff and clients – what an amazing place to work – indeed it has been a privilege to be associated with Gidget Foundation Australia.
I never saw myself leaving Gidget Foundation and if I am back in Sydney I shall certainly be in touch – thank you Michaela for supporting me in my time at Gidget Foundation and in particular Peni and Amelia for your help and support with clients – it honestly is so far the best place I have worked to date.
After 6 years volunteering with Gidget Foundation Australia, and being a part of the amazing Founding Committee, it was a dream come true to join the team in the role of Digital Manager.
